Inviting Members

You can invite anyone to join your A vs B organization by email. Invited members receive a link to either create a new A vs B account or log in with an existing one; either way, they are added to your org automatically.

The invite dialog: add one or more email addresses, pick a role, and send.

Step-by-step

1

Open the Members tab

Click Settings in the bottom of the left sidebar, then click the Members tab at the top of the Settings page.

2

Click Invite

Click the Invite button in the top-right corner of the Members tab. A dialog box will appear.

3

Enter email addresses

Type the email address of the person you want to invite. To invite more people at once, click Add another for each extra address, up to 20 addresses in one go. A blank row is ignored, and an address typed twice gets one invitation.

4

Select a role

Choose the role each invited member will receive when they join. The default is Viewer. You can select any role available in your organization, including custom roles. All addresses entered in a single invitation receive the same role. To invite people with different roles, send separate invitations.

5

Send invitations

Click Send Invitation. A vs B sends an email to each address immediately and the dialog closes. Each invited address appears straight away in the Members table as a row marked Pending, and stays there until the person accepts.

New users vs. existing users

A vs B handles the two cases differently:

  • New users (no A vs B account yet): the invitation email contains a signup link with a unique token. When the person clicks it, they land on the signup page with their email pre-filled. After they complete registration and verify their email, they are automatically added to your organization with the role you selected.
  • Existing users (already have an A vs B account): the invitation email contains a direct join link. When they click it and log in (if not already), they are immediately added to your organization. No separate signup step is needed.

Sometimes a person is invited as a new user and then makes an account another way before they get round to the email, by signing in with Google, for example. If they open the signup link after that, A vs B tells them the email address already has an account and offers them a Log in to accept this invitation link. Signing in takes them straight to the invitation, still holding your original one, and they can accept it there. Nothing about their existing account or password changes, and you do not need to resend anything.

Invitations expire after 48 hours

For security reasons, invitation links are only valid for 48 hours after they are sent. If a recipient misses the deadline, the row says Expired and you can send a fresh invitation (see below).

If your organization has no room for another member

Team members are unlimited on every account. A member limit only exists if A vs B has set one specifically for your organization, as a custom, negotiated arrangement. That limit is counted when someone actually joins, not when you invite them, so you can have more invitations outstanding than you currently have room for.

When you send. If your organization is already full, nothing is sent and A vs B tells you: "You have reached your plan's limit. Upgrade to add more." No invitation emails go out, so nobody receives a link that would fail later.

When someone accepts. If the last place is taken between sending an invitation and the recipient using it, they see: "This organization has no seats left. Ask an admin to free a seat or upgrade the plan, then try again." They see the same thing whether they are creating a new A vs B account or signing in with one they already have.

Their invitation is not used up when this happens. It stays in your Members table as a pending row, and the same link keeps working, so once you make room they can accept it without you resending anything. The 48-hour expiry still applies, so resend it if the deadline passes first.

To make room, remove a member you no longer need, or contact support to raise the limit: it is a custom limit set for your organization, not something every account has. See A Feature or Action Is Unavailable for more.

Pending invitations

Invitations that have been sent but not yet accepted are listed in the Members table on the Members tab, after your members. Each row shows the email address, the role the person will get, and a status: Pending with the date the link expires, Expired once its 48 hours are up, or Rejected if the person declined.

Revoking a pending invitation

If you sent an invitation by mistake or want to cancel it before the recipient accepts:

  1. Go to Settings → Members and find the invitation's row in the Members table.
  2. Click the trash button at the end of the row (Revoke invitation), then confirm.
  3. The invitation link is immediately invalidated. If the recipient tries to use it after revocation, they will see an error message.

Resending an invitation

If an invitation has expired or the email was not received, click Resend in the invitation's row in the Members table. A new email with a fresh 48-hour link and the same role is sent immediately.

If the person still has an earlier link that has not expired, that one keeps working until the new email has actually been delivered, and then stops. So a resend can never leave somebody with no way in: if the new email fails to send, the invitation they already have is still good, and the address shows up as failed in the result so you know to try again.

Check your spam folder

Invitation emails are sent from noreply@avsb.cloud. If an invitee says they did not receive it, ask them to check their spam or junk folder before resending.
